Leica M4-P Rangefinder 0.72 Chrome 70th anniversary
The M4-P was introduced in 1980 after the M5 long ceased production, as a camera for professionals. It combined all the good things from previous cameras and was the first camera to have the 28mm and 75mm frame-lines included.
The M4-P can considered to be Leica’s rescue, and continued the classic design. Without the light meter, it feels like a M6s younger brother.
In 1983 Leica issued 2500 chrome M4-P’s to commemorate 70 years of Leica dating from Oscar Barnack’s first prototype in 1913.
The back of the top plate was engraved “Leica 1913-1983”, along with one of the five letters in the Leica name, followed by a number 1 to 500.
This beautiful collectable camera has the number ‘A 480’ and is in near mint condition.
It has just received a service, the shutter-speeds are spot-on, the rangefinder is very clear, and correctly aligned.
