Leica Elmar 3.5cm f3.5 LTM Chrome

SKU: 332196 Categories: , , ,

A lovely tiny Elmar 3.5cm lens with a maximum aperture of f3.5. This little pancake lens originates from 1936. This 3.5cm (35mm) lens, was the first interchangeable lens after the 50mm lenses for the Leica 1. It looks very similar to the 50mm which are easy to find. These are a bit un-common.

This particular one being uncoated, as it is from 1936, has just been serviced. The glass was cleaned as best as possible, the helicoid and aperture have also been cleaned and are in perfect working order. A very light bit of haze remains that cannot be seen by the naked eye, and needs a strong flashlight. We don’t think it has impact on the pictures (see the picture we shot with it at f4.5, almost wide open, straight of the camera, shot on Leica M10-P), but it is otherwise in beautiful condition. It shoots beautifully.

It comes with what we think are the original front and rear caps (it’s from 1936, so we don’t know the full history). It also has the original FOOKH hood included, and a period correct clamp-on yellow filter.

A beautiful lens for your classic Barnack Leica, as either a shooter lens, or a nice collectable.
