A classic Leica Elmarit 28mm f/2.8 Version II, manufactured in Canada in 1972.
With serial number 2544112, this lens is a very early production example of the second-generation 28mm Elmarit. It features the eight-element, six-group optical construction characteristic of this version and is an interesting early example of Leica’s classic 28mm wide-angle for the M system.
Optically, the lens is in excellent condition. The glass is beautifully clean and clear, with no haze, fungus or other optical issues. Mechanically, everything operates as it should.
Cosmetically, the lens shows visible signs of use and age. There is wear to the exterior finish and the barrel is certainly not in collector or near-mint cosmetic condition. We prefer to describe this honestly: this is a lens that has been used, but one that has been well preserved where it matters most — the optics and mechanics.
The lens comes with its original Leica lens hood and original Leica rear cap, together with an aftermarket front cap and a correctly sized Hoya UV filter.

Een klassieke Leica Elmarit 28mm f/2.8 Version II, geproduceerd in Canada in 1972.
Met serienummer 2544112 betreft dit een zeer vroeg productie-exemplaar van de tweede generatie 28mm Elmarit. Deze uitvoering heeft de karakteristieke optische constructie met acht elementen in zes groepen en is een interessante vroege uitvoering van Leica’s klassieke 28mm groothoek voor het M-systeem.
Optisch verkeert het objectief in uitstekende staat. Het glas is prachtig schoon en helder, zonder haze, schimmel of andere optische problemen. Ook mechanisch functioneert alles zoals het hoort.
Cosmetisch zijn er duidelijke gebruiks- en ouderdomssporen aanwezig. De buitenzijde heeft slijtage aan de afwerking en het objectief verkeert uiterlijk zeker niet in verzamel- of nieuwstaat. We omschrijven dit liever gewoon zoals het is: dit is een objectief dat daadwerkelijk gebruikt is, maar dat op de belangrijkste punten — de optiek en de mechaniek — bijzonder goed bewaard is gebleven.
Het objectief wordt geleverd met de originele Leica zonnekap en het originele Leica achterdeksel. Daarnaast zijn een aftermarket voordeksel en een Hoya UV-filter in de juiste maat inbegrepen.
